Asset Criticality
Asset Criticality defines the relative importance of an asset within your organisation. It provides a simple visual indicator to help maintenance and operations personnel quickly understand how critical an asset is to production, safety, or compliance.
Asset criticality is for display purposes only, it does not directly affect scheduling, work order generation, or any other automated system functions in Samurai. Its main purpose is to communicate priority and assist with decision-making during planning and maintenance activities.
Typical Use
- Highlight assets that are critical to production or safety (e.g. High – Red)
- Identify less critical or redundant assets (e.g. Low – Green)
- Support prioritisation during breakdowns or maintenance planning
- Provide context for risk assessments and reliability analysis
Managing Asset Criticality Levels
- Go to Reference Tables → Asset Reference Tables → Asset Criticality
- Click + Add Criticality to create a new level
- Enter a Name (e.g. High, Medium, Low)
- Select a Colour Code to visually represent the criticality
- Click Save to apply the change
You can also edit or delete existing levels using the action buttons.
Defining clear criticality levels ensures that all team members share a consistent understanding of asset importance, improving communication and focus across maintenance operations.
