Compliance Flag

The Compliance Task flag indicates that a work order or task is required to meet a legal, regulatory, or safety obligation. When this flag is enabled, the work is identified as mandatory for compliance purposes, rather than optional or routine maintenance.

This flag helps ensure that critical inspections, certifications, and statutory servicing are completed on time and properly documented.

Purpose

Flagging a work order as a Compliance Task allows organisations to:

  • Identify maintenance activities that are legally required or part of a formal compliance program.
  • Prioritise these tasks during scheduling and resource planning.
  • Track and report on compliance-related work to demonstrate adherence to standards and regulations.
  • Support audits and verification by maintaining clear records of completed compliance work.

Examples

Common examples of compliance tasks include:

  • Safety inspections (e.g. lifting equipment, pressure vessels, electrical systems)
  • Environmental checks (e.g. emissions, containment integrity)
  • Certification renewals (e.g. annual plant safety certification)
  • Regulatory maintenance required under workplace health and safety legislation

By flagging these work orders as Compliance Tasks, the system can ensure they appear in compliance-specific reports and dashboards.

Reporting and Monitoring

Work orders marked as Compliance Tasks are included in compliance performance reporting within Samurai CMMS. These reports allow you to:

  • Verify that all compliance tasks have been completed within the required timeframes
  • Identify overdue or upcoming compliance work
  • Demonstrate compliance performance at the asset, department, or site level

This functionality helps ensure that assets remain legally operational and that organisations meet their obligations to regulators and auditors.

Best Practice

  • Only apply the Compliance Task flag to work orders that are legally or regulatory mandated.
  • Review compliance task lists periodically to ensure they remain accurate and relevant.
  • Use compliance reports to monitor due dates and completion rates.
  • Maintain accurate documentation (including attachments and certifications) for audit readiness.
