Shift Log
The Shift Log is used for shift management and reporting. It helps supervisors communicate key information from one shift to the next during handover. Each department maintains its own shift log, and only one active log can exist per department at any time.
Shift Log Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Supervisor | The person responsible for managing the shift. |
| Department | The department the shift applies to. |
| Start Time | The scheduled start time of the shift (loaded automatically from system settings). |
| Shift Notes | The main activities, events, and highlights from the shift, including any important updates for the next supervisor. |
| Safety Notes | Any safety-related incidents, hazards, or conditions that the incoming shift should be aware of (for example, weather, workshop conditions, or equipment issues). |
| Crew | The team members on shift. |
| Contractors | Any external personnel or contractors who were on site during the shift. |
| Projects and Tasks | Major activities or tasks being managed outside of routine work orders and events. |
The shift log automatically includes maintenance events that were started or completed during the shift. It also lists any work scheduled to begin within the next 12 hours. Supporting documents (such as PDFs, Word files, or images) can be attached to the log.
Starting a Shift Log
A supervisor or other authorised person can start a new shift log. Once started, this becomes the active log for that department, and no additional logs can be created until it is finalised.
Finalising a Shift Log
At or near the end of the shift, the supervisor finalises the log. This action locks the report and generates a PDF summary that can be emailed to the incoming supervisor or other stakeholders.
