Compliance Flag
The Compliance Flag is used to identify Tasks and Work Orders that are statutory or regulatory requirements. It highlights work that must be completed to maintain legal, safety, or operational compliance.
Compliance Flags help ensure critical maintenance is visible, trackable, and reportable.
How the Compliance Flag works
The Compliance Flag is a toggle that can be applied to a Task or a Work Order.
When the Compliance Flag is enabled:
- The Task or Work Order is marked as compliance-related
- The flag is carried from a Task to any Work Orders created from it
- The work appears in compliance-focused reports
Common uses for the Compliance Flag
The Compliance Flag is commonly used for:
- Statutory inspections
- Regulatory maintenance requirements
- Safety-critical checks
- Legal certification or recertification work
- Auditable maintenance activities
Compliance Flag fields
The Compliance Flag uses the following fields as shown in the Samurai CMMS user interface.
| Field name | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Compliance Flag | No | Toggle to indicate the Task or Work Order is a compliance requirement. Disabled by default. |
Creating Compliance Flagged Tasks
The Compliance Flag is applied directly when creating or editing a Task.
To apply the Compliance Flag to a Task:
- Open the Task record.
- Enable the Compliance Flag toggle.
- Save the Task.
Any Work Orders generated from this Task will automatically inherit the Compliance Flag.
Applying the Compliance Flag to Work Orders
The Compliance Flag can also be applied directly to a Work Order.
To apply the Compliance Flag to a Work Order:
- Open the Work Order.
- Enable the Compliance Flag toggle.
- Save the Work Order.
This is commonly used for ad-hoc compliance work not created from a Task.
Where the Compliance Flag applies
The Compliance Flag applies in the following areas:
- Tasks
- Work Orders
- Compliance and audit reports
- Dashboards and filtered views where compliance status is required
The flag is visible to users with access to the Task or Work Order.
Compliance reporting behaviour
Compliance Flagged work is included in compliance-specific reports.
These reports typically show:
- Compliance Tasks and Work Orders
- Last completed date
- Next due date
- Current status
- Overdue or upcoming compliance work
This supports audits and ongoing compliance monitoring.
Example of Compliance Flag in use
A statutory inspection Task is configured as follows:
- Task: Annual Safety Inspection
- Compliance Flag: Enabled
Each Work Order generated from this Task is marked as compliance-related. A Compliance Report can then be run to confirm when the inspection was last completed and when it is next due across all applicable Assets.
Important considerations and best practices
- Apply the Compliance Flag only to true statutory or regulatory work
- Use consistent naming for compliance-related Tasks
- Set the Compliance Flag at the Task level where possible
- Avoid using the Compliance Flag for general preventative maintenance
- Regularly review Compliance Reports to ensure no work is overdue
- Deactivating or removing the Compliance Flag does not affect historical records
This feature ensures compliance-critical maintenance is clearly identified, traceable, and auditable within Samurai CMMS.
