Transfer Stock from Another Warehouse
If the required stock is not available at the default warehouse, Samurai can create an internal transfer request from another warehouse.
This process allows stock to be reserved at the source warehouse and transferred to the Work Order's default warehouse without requiring manual communication between sites.
Creating a Transfer Request
To request stock from another warehouse:
- Locate the required part on the Work Order.
- Click Find Stock.
- The Stock Transfer Request wizard will open.
- Select a warehouse with available stock.
- Click Next.
The wizard will display all warehouses that currently hold available stock for the selected item.
Warehouses with no available stock cannot be selected.
Entering Transfer Details
The second step of the wizard captures the transfer requirements.
Enter:
- Quantity Required
- Required By Date
- Priority
- Routine
- Urgent
- Critical
- Reason for Transfer
- Notification Contacts (optional)
The reason for transfer is automatically populated using the Work Order details but can be modified if required.
Reviewing the Request
Before submitting the request, review:
- Part Number
- Part Description
- Quantity
- Source Warehouse
- Destination Warehouse
- Priority
- Required By Date
- Notes and Justification
Select Submit Request to create the transfer request.
What Happens After Submission?
When a transfer request is submitted:
- Stock is reserved at the source warehouse.
- Available stock at the source warehouse decreases.
- The transfer request appears in the source warehouse's Stock Issuing Console.
- The transfer request appears in the destination warehouse's Stock Receiving Console.
- The Work Order part status updates to indicate that a transfer has been requested.
The stock does not physically move until the source warehouse approves and dispatches the transfer.
Transfer Lifecycle
Internal stock transfers typically progress through the following stages:
Requested
→ Approved
→ Awaiting Pickup
→ In Transit
→ Received
→ Reserved for Work Order
→ Issued
Throughout the process, Samurai maintains visibility of:
- Source warehouse stock
- Destination warehouse stock
- Reserved quantities
- In Transit quantities
- Transfer status
- Courier details
- Tracking information
- Estimated arrival dates
This provides complete traceability of inventory movements between warehouses while ensuring maintenance work can be planned and executed with confidence.
