Plant Rates
Plant rates in Samurai are used to calculate the operating cost and hire rate of equipment.
The Plant Rate module allows organisations to model the full cost of owning and operating plant and equipment by combining financial costs, maintenance costs, consumable costs and operational costs into a single calculated rate.
These rates can then be used for:
- Internal equipment costing
- Plant hire charge-out rates
- Project costing and estimating
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Lifecycle cost analysis
- Customer billing
- Site cost comparisons
- Equipment replacement analysis
Plant rates are designed to support both simple and highly detailed costing models.
Organisations can choose to model only high-level ownership costs, or build detailed operational costing structures that include maintenance strategies, consumable wear profiles, component life assumptions and site-specific operating conditions.
The Plant Rate system is structured around Allocations and Categories:
- Allocations determine how a cost is calculated within Samurai
- Categories determine how costs are grouped and reported for operational analysis
This structure allows businesses to maintain consistent calculation methods while still providing the Plant department with detailed operational visibility into equipment costs.
Plant rates can also integrate closely with Maintenance Tasks, allowing maintenance strategies, component replacements and servicing schedules to directly influence equipment operating costs and hire rates.
